Hidden Cities

3D MAPPING

Play Video

Hidden Cities transforms historical maps of Lille into living, three-dimensional structures that emerge and dissolve within the walls of the prefecture. These maps – already abstract interpretations of the city – are reimagined through digital manipulation, revealing lost architectures, forgotten streets, and the secrets embedded in the building itself. Aligning with the hall’s architecture, shifting light and evolving patterns blur the line between past and present, inviting viewers to explore a hidden city within the city.

The artwork was presented during the Video Mapping Festival 2025 in Lille, France. A work made during a creation residency organised by Rencontres Audiovisuelles as part of the Video Mapping European Center. With the support of the European Union (Europe is committed to the Hauts-de-France through the European Regional Development Fund), the Hauts-de-France Region, the Communauté d’Agglomération de La Porte du Hainaut and Arenberg Creative Mine.
